Today was one of those special warm and sunny January days that make you want to be out and about...so we dubbed it "date day" and out we headed. East or West? Lancaster or Cambridge? Donald's Donuts or Bob Evans for breakfast? LOL...those were the biggest decision on the morning:)
and this is where we went for breakfast:) If you've never had a fresh from the fryer DONALD'S DONUT...you've been missing the BEST donut ever! Don't get me wrong...we love Krispy Kremes...but these hometown donuts have them beat! Here's a link to their Facebook page so you can get the scoop and make plans to go: https://www.facebook.com/DonaldsDonuts
Before we left Zanesville we decided to make a trip to Wyers on SR 60 South, just on the edge of town. We've driven past often but never made time to stop. If you're looking for a pretty painted wash stand...they have one inside for just $75.00. Wish I had remembered to take a picture...been thinking about that sweet stand all day:) Adding this link to their Facebook page in case you need contact info: https://www.facebook.com/pages/Wyers-Antiques-Collectibles/165496516809480
At this point we decided to head east on old Route 40...towards Cambridge OH, with Theo's on Main Street our final destination. First stop was Casa Bella Antiques near White Pillars. Spotted this retro mid century metal cabinet (maybe used in a hospital setting?) in the BARGAIN BASEMENT...just 48.00 and another HALF OFF! Not something we can use right now...but a great deal for someone else. Only link I could find to share is this one...not the best but a start if you are interested in having a look: https://www.facebook.com/pages/Casa-Bella-Ornamental-Iron/158826047481221
Next stop was the Norwich Flea Market (okay...that's a little white lie...we stopped at another shop but I forgot to get a picture! I think it was called, "Just Stuff". Delightful owner who helped us decide on 5 great pieces of small furniture!) AND THEN the next stop was the Norwich Flea Market:) Lots of vendors running big sales....
Pretty much finished filling the van at the flea market:) That made our day...especially since we started out with an empty van!
Next stop was Whispering Willow Primitives. Don't you love her sign and the way she used the mantle on the front of her building? Inside are the cutest painted pieces. Lots of character and shading...a real labor of love...and yep...I forgot to get a picture inside but here's a link to their Facebook page where she's posted pics of her painted furniture:) https://www.facebook.com/pages/Whispering-Willow-Primitives-Resale/330648413658338
Last stop of the day...THEO'S on Main Street where Dave ordered the Hand Dipped Fried Mushrooms as recommended by our friend at Whispering Willow Primitives:) The portions are very generous and the prices are great. Well worth a trip. So wanted to end with a piece of their well known pie...but just didn't have room:) Link to their website so you can read their "story" and see the daily specials: http://www.theosrestaurant.us/
Still had time to make it home for a little nap before heading to our favorite Saturday Night Auction:) All and all a fun and productive day.
