Yesterday we spent relaxing at the campground in the morning and strolling and eating our way around the City Dock in Annapolis MD in the afternoon. Another charming town...lots of old, old buildings and shops, cobblestone streets, brick sidewalks and sailboats docked in the harbor. My Dad and Bob Spiker both said the best Crab Cakes in MD were at the Market by the City Docks. They were good:)...no filler like the crab cakes at home. Mostly just seasoned crab meat! Dave had a fried Oyster sandwich too. So fresh the lady had to shuck it from the shell to bread and fry it!
The Naval Academy is right around the corner so took a walk over to their museum. Wanted to see John Paul Jones' grave (he's buried in the chapel) but the chapel was closed to the public as they were setting up for a Halloween Concert. We both thought that was a little odd and we're disappointed we didn't get to see his crypt.
Walked in and out of some neat shops in the afternoon...an Irish themed shop, a tea shop and a cigar shop. Cute merchandise.
Left the city in the afternoon and headed across the Chesapeake Bay to our next campground in Denton, MD at the Martinak State Park. Registered and then took off exploring the little town of Denton. Found a shop called "Just Yesterday"
and had a nice chat with the owner. He suggested the little pub down the street (Market Street Public House) for dinner and we weren't disappointed! Beautiful old bar, good food and charming atmosphere.
Peaceful here at the campground this morning. We are one of three campers! Enjoying our morning coffee watching the squirrels play before we head off to St. Michaels and Tilghman Island.
PS:Had to go "coon shining" last night with our electric lamp! Sitting at the picnic table playing on our computers last night we could hear "things" in the woods! Creeped me out! Dave said it was a raccoon. I sure hope so! Halloween is getting close!
